VINEYARDS

The winery’s greatest asset is its vines. It is in the vineyards where our greatest efforts are made and most of our time is spent.

TERROIR
The 80 hectares where the grapes are grown are currently divided into 37 set aside for goblet or bush vines whereas the remaining 43 are wire-trained. 40% of these vines are more than 60 years old. The following grapes are grown: Tempranillo, Verdejo, Albillo and Garnacha Tinta. Tempranillo being the majority at 70%. Over the last 20 years the winery has trialled several foreign grape varieties.

An additional, 75 hectares of winegrowers in the area are also controlled. In an outstanding way, following the enthusiasm of the founders of the winery, the Albillo variety has been given prominence, with which new plantation and elaboration projects are being developed.
LOCATION
The winery’s greatest asset is its vines. It is in the vineyards where our greatest efforts are made and most of our time is spent. The vines belonging to Bodegas Sinforiano stretch over every part of the Mucientes vineyard, which is made up of a great range of soil-types, in particular limestone, clay and gravel. The vines are grown in the Pisuerga valley and on the hillsides of the Montes de Torozos at an altitude of 750- 800 m. The climate is continental with wide temperature ranges during both the day and throughout the year with an Atlantic influence.

The climate corresponds to the continental with Atlantic influence, with strong thermal oscillations, both during the day and throughout the year.
Our belief at Bodegas Sinforiano is that wine is made in the vineyard. This is why we follow each plot of vines on a specific, individualised basis, aiming to bring out the full potential of each individual parcel.
The plots are selected from the beginning. The differentiation criteria are: soil, orientation and age. In this way each plot is destined for a type of wine and in them specific works are carried out to obtain an optimal grape for the elaboration of each of the wines.

Bodegas Sinforiano is careful to show the greatest respect to the natural environment, using no mineral fertilisers of any type and no weedkillers in any of its vineyards.
